What is animal abuse? Why do people abuse animals? How can we stop it?
Animal abuse is the beating, depriving of water, food, or shelter, and/or an unsafe environment to have animals living in. Some states have even banned rodeo fights, ear cropping, tail docking, and declawing. Animal abuse is generally split into two categories: active and passive (commission and omission). Passive cases are neglect, like starvation, dehydration, infections, collar growing into an animals skin, no shelter, and not going to a vet when necessary. If someone is caught, an investigator might teach the owner to take care of the animal(s), but in extreme cases, investigators can remove the animals from their owners and charge. In all 50 states, dog fighting is a felony. Just because its illegal doesn't mean it happens. If we team up, we can decrease the rate of animal abuse, all you have to do is report a case if you see it. People abuse animals because they have anger to take out and their pets are there. Also, many people bet on animal fights.
